:כוכית גדות חיוורת , עד לאחרונה נחשבה לתת מין של כוכית גדות . בגלל שוני מורפולוגי וקולי, מסווגת כיום כמין נפרד עם חמש תת מינים . סנונית קטנה, חומה ובעלת זנב מקודד מעט . קשתית העין חומה כהה, מקורה קצר ורחב . גבה חום-אפרפר גחונה בהיר לחייה וגרונה בהירים . פס חום חוצה את חזה. הרגלים חומות . דומה מאוד לכוכית גדות אך בהירה ממנה . בית גידולה משתרע מסיביר למזרח ודרום אסיה . בית חיותה בקרבת מים, בנופים פתוחים עד לרום של 4500 מ' . בארץ עוברת אורך לא שכיחה רק באביב ...'ותור, וסוס ועגור ... ירמיה ח | ||||||||||

R. r. riparia N-W Africa and Europe, E through Siberia to Kolyma river and Kamchatka, S to Kazakhstan, N Altai, and N parts of Baykal region. Also Turkey and Levant to N Iran, and N America. R. d. diluta S & SE Kazakhstan. R. d. gaveilovi C Siberia to Lena, and Cisbaikalia to Tuva. R. d. transbaykalica Transbaikalia. R. d. indica Pakistan and India. R. d. fohkienensis C&E China. Descriptive notes.
Forms a superspecies with R. paludicola, R. congica and R. riparia. Until recently considered conspecific with last but differs morphologically and vocally. 12 cm, 13-15 g, wingspan 26-29 cm. Nominate race is pale grey brown above, remiges and rectrices darker brown, tail shallowly forked. Underparts dingy white, weakly defined pale brown breast band. Underwing brown. Distinguished from similar Collared Sand Martin by paler and greyer upperparts. Sexes alike. Habitat. Mainly open country, often near water.In area of sympatry with R. riparia Food and Feeding. Small airborne invertebrates. Feeds almost exclusively in flight, also recorded feeding on ground. Breeding. Nov-May, mainly Feb-Apr. Usually small colonies. Nest, hole in river bank, sand quarry, or sea-cliff, occasionally in drain pipe or other artificial hole. Nes-cup made of feathers, grass, leaves, etc. 3-4 eggs. No further information. Movements. N populations migratory. Nominate race probably winters mainly in India, but trvotfrf sd gst W as Egypt and Israel. Status and Conservation. Not globally threatened. Locally common. Breeding sites probably local and ephemeral as for R. riparia and affected by similar factors, such as flooding of nests. Israel. In Israel R. diluta an uncommon passage migrant, exclusively in spring. |
