בית גידולו משתרע באזור האירנו-טורני, ממרוקו שבצפון אפריקה

S. i. theresae Morocco. S. i. saharae Algeria to Libya. S. i. inquietq Egypt, Levant, and N-W Saudi Arabia. S. i. grisea W Saudi Arabia, E South Yemen, and Oman. S. i. buryi SPW Saudi Arabia, North Yemen, and W South Yemen. S. i. striata Iran, S Afghnistan, Pakistan, and N-W India.
S. i. montana N-E Iran and mountains of S Turkmeniya, E to W Tadzhikistan and N Afghanistan.

Descriptive notes.
10 cm, 6-9 g, wingspan 13-14 cm. Small, quite robust, rather wren-like, and usually terrestrial warbler, with generally pale sandy plumage lacking obvious streaks and graduated tail with white feather-tips.
Close in size to Fan-tailed Warbler but with longer tail and head and body shaped more like Wren.
Sexes similar, no seasonal variation.
Habitat. In warm largely arid lower middle latitudes, somewhat beyond subtropical fringe in North Africa, avoiding mountains and also most low plains, coastal regions, wetlands, and forests.
Food and Feeding.
Chiefly insects, but weeds may be important in winter. Forages mainly on or near bushes or even disappearing into cavities among stones for several seconds, but will also feed in canopy of bushes and small trees.
Breeding.
Feb-Jun in Algeria and Tunisea, Mar-May in Turkmeniya. Nest site, in low scrub from near ground level. Nest, domed stricture of twigs, grass stems, and other plant material, lined with feathers, fur, and plant down.
4-6 eggs, sub-elliptical, smooth and glossy, white, with very fine red or purple-red spots and speckles, usually forming band at large end. Incubation 13-15 days, by both sexes.
Movements.
West palearctic races theresae, saharae, and inquieta almost entirely sedentary. Some evidence of local movements at Abadla (Algeria).
Status and Conservation.
Not globally threatened.
Israel.
In Israel subspecies S. i. inquieta common resident in most Desert and in hilly belts of the country.
