:פרושית אדומה | , ציפור קטנה אורכה 9.5 ס"מ משקלה 7.2-9.5 ג'. חלקי הגוף העליונים חומים אפורים . הכנפיים מנוקדות בלבן,על השת אדום והזנב כהה . באביב והקיץ ראשו של הזכר וחלקי גופו התחתונים, צבועים באדום ומנוקדים בלבן . קו העין שחור ופס לבן מתחת לעין. הנקבה אפרפרה , בית גידולה משתרע מפקיסטן להודו, נפאל, בנגלדש . משם לתאילנד סין וייטנאם , קמבודיה ואינדונזיה . לאחרונה החלה להתפשט באירופה, בישראל, מצרים, סעודיה ויפן , בית חיותה אדמות מרעה, מישורים ביצתיים, כרי דשא לח, סבכי אשל . מקווי מים לאורך נהרות ומקווי מים, בשפלות ועד לרום של 1500 מ' . מזונה זרעי עשבים וחרקים. הליקוט שלא בעונת הרבייה נעשה בלהקות לעיתים עם ציפורים אחרות . בישראל נדירה לאורך השבר האפריקני- סורי .

A little bird, 9.5 cm, 7 - 9.5 g. Male nominate race breeding is red from head to back Anduppertail-coverts, crown and back tinged brown, upperwing and tail brownish black, scapulars, tertials, wing-coverts, rump and uppertail-coverts, flanks and tips or tail feathers with rows of white spots. Lores and line through eye black, narrow white line below eye. Breast and flanks red. Bill red with black. Legs pinkish. Male non-breeding is like female, but with white spots on red upprtail-coverts. Female is greyish-brown above, rump and uppertail-coverts red with few indistinct white spots Habitat. fields, wetlands along rivers and canals. Mainly lowlands below 300 m to 2400 m in Lesser Sundas Food and Feeding. Small grass seeds, occasionally insects. Feeds in flocks. outside breeding season often in larger flocks, sometimes with other waxbills and sparrows. Breeding. Generally late in rains and early dry season. Nest a hollow ball of coarse grass, lined with fine materials, with side entrance hole,built within 1 m of ground. Clutch 4-6 eggs. Inncubation 11-13 days Movements Resident in most of range. Introduced populations in Spain and Egypt resident also locally nomadic. Status and Conservation. Not globally threatened. Israel. In Israel began to spread along the Syrian-African rift.
