. בית גידולה רק חוף ים, נראית לרוב מהלכת במים עמוקים לחיפוש מזון

Subspecies and Distribution.
E. g. golaris W Africa from Mauritania to Gabon. Red Sea to India.
Descriptive notes.
Races golares, schistacea and dimorpha often considered to form two separate species. Forms superspecies with E. thula.
60 cm, 500 gr, wingspan 95 cm. Polymorphic: white, grey and dark morphs. Dark morphs paler than E. ardesiaca . Bill heavier in gularis and also longer in former. schistacea, and also longer in former.
Habitat.
Race golares coastal on rockyor sandy shores and reefs, less frequently occupies estuaries, mudflats, salt marshes mangroves andtidal creeks, occasionally inland.
Food and Feeding
Aquatic insects, crustaceans and small fish in Israel 20 g.
Diurnal active feeder usinf wide variety of techniques especially "foot stirring", (whereby the bird vibrates one of its legs. These foot movements are particularly used by species with brightly colored feet).
Normaly solitary, aggressovely capture prey, moves much faster then the other species and even run after their prey.
Breeding.
Apr-Jul/Oct. Nests on ground or in reedbeds, bushes or trees up to 20 m also ledges or rocks or in mangroves.
2-6 eggs incubation 20-25 days, chicks have white down.
Movements.
W populations winter around Mediterranean, Midle East and particularly tropical Africa.
Status and Conservation.
Not globally threatend.
Israel. In Israel regularly throughout year, but does not breed. In Israel subspecies egretta garzetta gularis regularly throughout year, but does not breed.
